Making strides in carbon reduction

Challenge

Abel & Cole partnered with Compare Your Footprint to accurately measure and report on its carbon footprint and build a reduction strategy. Our sister company Green Element began working with Abel & Cole to calculate its carbon footprint and create a Climate Emergency Plan. As the Abel & Cole team became more informed about how to measure their carbon footprint and reduce it, they opted to use Compare Your Footprint's software to take ownership of their carbon accounting.

Solution

Abel & Cole use our software to upload and analyse their own activity data relating to site consumption, e.g. electricity, business travel, water, and waste. Abel & Cole were also able to back-date and analyse historical data. Carbon hotspots identified: Food and Drink (70%), Liquid Fuel (8%), Packaging (5%).

Outcome

Abel & Cole has achieved its goal of understanding and measuring its entire carbon footprint. Key results: 1) Developed a robust carbon footprint covering Scopes 1, 2, and 3 (including supply chain). 2) Identified the carbon hotspots to focus efforts on. 3) Put in place measures to directly reduce their emissions. In 2022, Abel & Cole reduced its carbon emissions by 7,939 tonnes. They validated their near-term science-based targets through the Science Based Targets initiative.
